Our new mini app SMShow

We've just released another Android application onto the Android market. It’s a very simple application which we’ve called SMShow as in "SMS" and "show" which we hope people will get.

Along with the application we've also built a very simple website to explain a little more about what SMShow is, what it does, why it was built, versions etc etc. We know the application is nothing ground breaking but it was built by a developer in order to solve a simple problem; displaying multiple messages in a popup with a simple UI.

Hope you guys find SMShow useful. If you have any questions then you can send us an e-mail to android@vivosystems.co.uk.

Moving Hosting companies - done

Over the weekend we moved our primary sites from one location to another and with a few problems aside the move seems to of gone well. If you do find any problems with the sites then please let us know.

The old locations are still live so if your DNS is still pointing you there then everything should be ok. The main service which was taken down was Outwalk which will be up again today (this will only work on the new servers).

Moving Hosting companies - date set

The move to our new hosting provider will now take place this weekend between Friday September 18th and Sunday September 20th. The update will effect a few of our systems while we move them across the main one being outwalk.vivosystems.co.uk which will also effect uploading from the Outwalk application; this service will be stopped on the Friday but will re-start again hopefully before the weekend is out. The main websites vivosystems.co.uk, android.vivosystems.co.uk and this site blog.vivosystems.co.uk will hopefully move seamlessly, but we shall see.

We apologise for any inconvenience and if you have any further questions then please e-mail us at info@vivosystems.co.uk

Moving Hosting companies

why?...

At the moment we're in the process of moving hosting companies as the one that we're currently with is not performing as well as we need, with out core site (vivosystems.co.uk) going down almost daily. So where do we move our hosting? Well we did a lot of looking around for managed servers, co-location, VPS, hosting etc etc the list goes on and so do the people able to provide it. We needed something reliable, but saleable. It needed to be flexible enough that we could scale up if needed and back down again, say for a product launch where initial hits may go up and then back down again but we didn't want to have to pay for that bandwidth all year round, only when we needed it. So I started looking at companies, usually I start looking at reviews which is what I did this time and some of the better articles I looked at seemed proposing and after a few hours of looking and reviewing I decided I'd found one, the feedback and reviews were awesome and I though why not! The company is vps.net and I have to say that so far I've been thrilled. It's fairly obvious that it's a VPS account (Virtual Private Server), but the system is based on nodes the more power you need the more nodes you have, simple! So I joined, booted up the VPS with CentOS image and started to configure the box, FTP, SSH, users, PHP, Apache etc etc etc.. I used one of our testing domains to experiment with changing the DNS settings before I start moving real sites such as this!... but so far, so good..

This is my point, over the next week or so the DNS entries for vivosystems.co.uk are going to move from our current hosting to our new hosting, the sites will be set up but if there are problems, then please be patient, I'll post the date we plan on doing the upgrade nearer the time and a temporary e-mail address as e-mail will also be out of action for a while.
