The New Vivo Systems

After a couple of strange months we have finally managed to launch the new Vivo Systems website. The site has been build using a combination of HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL. The main difference being that the website is based around our object oriented web engine which we will be writing about soon. One of the great features of this system is that it allows for extra features to be added to the site quickly and easily as the underlying architecture is based on a set of defined interfaces.
The new website is a basic extension of the previous. Some of the old websites features have been kept such as navigation and most of the content has been ported and modified to suite the new site, the main difference is the style of the layouts; the logo has been modified and the site has been modernised. As it is a new site, we are expecting some problems as with any new software system, we have tested it, regression tested errors and now the site has been released for an unofficial public beta testing. If you do find any errors, then please e-mail them to bugs@vivosystems.co.uk

Walk the Walk

Last Sunday I did a twelve mile charity walk from Broughton to Salisbury Cathedral in Hampshire. I’m not sure if you would call me active or not. A couple of years ago I would of said, yes, I was swimming 160+ lengths of the local swimming pool 3 times a week and running twice a week, then I broke my leg and since then things have never been the same. But now I’m on an active campaign to get back up there again. This started with a warm up weekend in Wales walking 6 miles in a sitting which wasn’t a problem so I decided the 12 miles would be fine, and it was. A lot of people did the 26 miles, while I would have been able to do it, it would not of been anywhere near as enjoyable as this walk. Four of us did the walk; I finished with aching feet but apart from that I had no lasting pains, Tim, from Go The Distance Training just did it for fun and was fine, while the other two were in a little pain for the next couple of days!

As a company we are trying to encourage an active and healthy life, and were doing this by encouraging people to take part in events like this, walking for charities and enjoying the world we live in. IT professionals spend a large amount of there time sat on a desk, but there is no reason why we can’t be active.
